WOW, today was the most amazing day yet.
I cn't wait to get to start uploading my pics... I actually got to go on a recon mission with the Lightening Strike Force out of this little mountain camp (FOB forward strike base) that I am at. It was crazy cool, first off we were armed to the hilt, and had total body armor, but we went in two Humves and just trucket through territory that was so beautiful and strange, full of smiling Afghan faces and dust. Hundreds of children with smiles missing teeth and begging for pens, or chocolate or anything. And the weathered eyes of the elders who fight their fear and skeptisism to find a weak smile as only to convey they aare not a threat.
We hiked to the top of a mountain and investigated a possible rocket launch location for the taliban, then we went back and they stopped in town to let me wander the Bazaar and meet with the locals. I had tea with a merchant and a crowd grew around saying phrases of the only english they new, and alot of it was dirty... as the soldiers find it funny to teach them the filthiest of phrases. And in a way it is good because you always laugh when you here someone say fucky crap my momma is a whore, I'm rick james bitch... and when you laugh the laugh and its kinda why i'm here...
Keepin it short, I'm really tired, hard to sleep yesterday as there was non stop artillery fire out of the base I was at, and it was sooo freakin hot! Got attacked by mosquitos, so now I'm on malaria drugs as well. More to come, and the pics will be worth the wait.
Oh yeah, and the shows have rocked. Pretty much everywhere, alot better than last trip. It's weird when i get to the different bases, they have already heard about some of my bits and request them before I start, its been really flattering, and fun.
Ciao..
